28 June 2013 - Equestrian Sports New Zealand announces partnership with IRT

IRT are Oceania’s most trusted international horse mover and have been transporting livestock around the globe since 1972 including all types of equestrian and racing horses.

IRT has been supporting ESNZ with the international travel of NZ-based horses to World Equestrian Games, Olympic Games and other leading FEI events for many years, so the formalising of the arrangement in a three year partnership has been warmly supported by ESNZ.

Jim Ellis,  ESNZ Chief Executive, welcomed the partnership, “IRT has been ESNZ’s international horse carrier of choice for many years and formalising our partnership will offer even greater benefits for our members and teams. Developing elite riders and horses is an important and costly part of our sport and IRT’s support of ESNZ will enable greater competition opportunities offshore.”

The partnership will see IRT continue to transport official ESNZ team horses around the world while ESNZ and individual members will be able to take full advantage of the professional service IRT provides with its worldwide offices in Australia / UK / USA & Germany.   ESNZ’s sports will receive subsidies for official teams travelling offshore especially for trans-Tasman competitions.

IRT also welcomed the new arrangement, “this officially formalises the financial commitment IRT have made to ESNZ” said IRT company Co-director David Cole.  ESNZ is “still producing world class riders and we are pleased to help by aligning ourselves with such an organisation” said Co-director Ross Johnson.

ESNZ Jumping has recently announced their Trans Tasman Teams that will travel to Australia to compete in a test series in September.  These teams will be the first to take advantage of the new IRT partnership.

ESNZ encourages any member needing assistance with travelling horses internationally to contact IRT who have been supporting New Zealand equestrians for over 40 years.
